Responsible Gambling

What Responsible Gambling Means

Responsible gambling means treating a gambling session as a paid form of entertainment rather than a source of income: the amount allocated to play is set aside in advance, kept separate from funds required for housing, bills or debt repayment, and bounded by deposit, bet and loss limits fixed before the session starts. No outcome in a game of chance is guaranteed, and no sequence of bets or prior results changes the underlying probability of a future outcome.

Patterns Within Normal Range vs. Risk Patterns

A pattern within the normal range: a session has a time and budget decided before login, and play stops once either limit is reached regardless of the result; gambling does not interfere with sleep, work attendance, family time or repayment of existing debts; a loss is accepted as the cost of entertainment already received rather than money owed to be recovered; deposits are not increased mid-session to compensate for a loss.

A risk pattern: deposits or bet sizes increase after a loss in an attempt to recover the amount already spent; a session extends well past the time originally planned; funds designated for rent, utilities or debt repayment are redirected into deposits; the frequency, duration or amount of play is concealed from a partner or family member; and credit, loans or the sale of possessions are used more than once to continue funding play.

Licensing Status of Drakaris in Canada

Canada has no single national gambling regulator. The federal Criminal Code (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-46, ss. 201–207) restricts gambling to activities conducted and managed by a provincial or territorial government, so licensing is set at the provincial level. Ontario runs the only open, competitive private iGaming market, in which operators register with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and sign an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario (iGO); Alberta opened a comparable market through the AGLC and the Alberta iGaming Corporation in July 2026, and other provinces operate government-run single platforms through their lottery corporations.

Drakaris does not hold an AGCO registration or an iGO operating agreement, does not appear on the iGaming Ontario operator directory, and lists Ontario as a restricted jurisdiction for players. The operator discloses a licence issued by the Tobique Gaming Commission, held through the entity Novatrix SRL, a framework separate from any Canadian provincial regulator; registration status in Canadian provinces other than Ontario is to be confirmed with the operator.

Drakaris Control Tools

Deposit, bet and loss limits. Separate limits can be set for deposits, single bets and net losses, applied over daily, weekly or monthly periods, and combined to cover more than one period at once. Setting a new limit or lowering an existing one takes effect immediately upon confirmation. Raising an existing limit is subject to a cooling-off period, so the higher ceiling becomes usable only after a delay rather than within the requesting session.

Self-exclusion. An account can be suspended for a fixed term or for an indefinite period, during which login, deposits and marketing communications are blocked. A fixed-term exclusion cannot be reversed before the end date selected at activation. An indefinite exclusion requires a separate reactivation request once any minimum period set by the operator has passed, and reinstatement is not automatic or immediate upon request.

Session alerts. A reality-check notification interrupts play at intervals chosen by the player, displaying elapsed session time and net result, and requires acknowledgement before play can continue. The alert does not pause the account, cancel a pending bet or restrict further deposits; it provides information at a set interval, and the decision to end the session remains with the player.

Indicators of Problem Behaviour

Indicators associated with problem gambling include increasing deposits or bet sizes after a loss to recover money already spent, using credit, loans or savings to fund further play, concealing the frequency or amount of play from a partner or family member, neglecting work, sleep or other obligations to keep playing, and irritability or restlessness when attempting to stop. Persistence of these patterns across sessions is the relevant signal, not one isolated instance.
